Aerial work platforms usually come with a workman basket. It is missing here ... but why? There is a simple reason. The workman basket is installed by the customer. But this is not the only peculiarity ...
What makes this aerial work platform special?
First of all, it should be mentioned that the aerial work platform does not operate autonomously, but is part of a customer’s plant. And it protrudes about 1.5 metres over the edge of the plant, so part of the installation is “free-floating”. Of course, with this type of installation, not only is the sturdy design of the working platform crucial, but the tilting moment must also be taken into account. Therefore the working platform is appropriately supported by the base frame.
Another special feature are the platform dimensions. At 928 mm, the platform is not only very narrow, but also relatively long at just under 2 metres. The narrow platform is dictated by the limited space available due to its installation in the customer's plant.
As already mentioned, we did not supply the complete aerial work platform, but only the lift table as the basis. The workman basket was installed by the customer. A rail is installed underneath the workman basket to move it. The rail allows the workman basket to extend up to 2.5 metres beyond the fixed bearing. This creates a cantilevered load. The base frame was designed to be extra rigid to absorb the cantilevered load accordingly.
As the working platform is part of a customer's plant, it does not have a self-sufficient operating system. The wiring via the terminal strip is the interface to the higher-level customer control system. A total of four energy chains were provided on the scissor lift table to give the customer enough space to lay his cables for the control system. We have already integrated the appropriate sensor technology for moving to intermediate positions.
The equipment of the hydraulic hoses is also special. As the plant is used in a high-temperature area, the hoses are protected against contact with warm surfaces with heat-protection hoses.
