In addition to being used as a loading lift table or work lift table, our scissor lift table is also popularly employed as a goods lift. This allows for efficient transportation of goods between different floors, also for larger and heavier loads.
What is a simplified goods lift?
A simplified goods lift is specifically designed to efficiently transport goods between different floors without the need for an attendant. This type of elevator offers a cost-effective transportation solution for businesses that frequently need to move goods vertically. Its ease of operation and lower installation requirements make it an ideal choice for economical material transport both inside buildings and in outdoor areas.
What distinguishes a lift table as a goods lift from a simple scissor lift table?
In our article ‘Using a lift table as a goods lift’, we have already extensively addressed this question. Therefore, in the following, we would like to focus on mentioning the essential differences:
A simplified goods lift has more complex control technology. This allows, among other things, the automatic mode, load monitoring, and safety interlocks of the doors. In addition, the hydraulic system of the goods lift is equipped with special safety valves. These are necessary because while no persons are allowed to ride on the lifting platform, entering the platform for loading and unloading must be possible.
The special installation situation
Our simplified goods lifts are usually installed in precisely tailored shafts, with a maximum gap of 30 mm between the platform and the surrounding smooth wall. However, in this particular case, the shaft closely abuts the platform on three sides, while at the lower stop, there is a unique situation: there exists a sort of anteroom that poses a potential safety risk.
The anteroom is only accessible through an electromechanically secured fire door, meaning that access is only possible when the platform is at the lower stop. But what if a person remains in the anteroom, closes the fire door and the platform unexpectedly moves upward? There is a risk that the person may step under the raised platform and be injured during the next descent.
To ensure that no one is in the danger zone during the lifting or lowering movements, we have installed a light curtain for personnel protection in the anteroom. Since this solution is more expensive than adding an additional secured access door directly on the lift table, we recommend this option only in exceptional cases like this one.
