Not only in traditional industries will you find our simplified goods lift used to efficiently transport loads between different floors. In the service sector as well, such as in this large-scale laundry facility, the use of a hydraulic lift proves to be a valuable support.
A laundry in growth
As the popularity of the laundry service increased, demand steadily rose. Soon, the capacity limits of the existing operational facilities were reached. Expansion became inevitable. An important decision loomed: Should the business expand horizontally, or would it be sensible to add a second level?
Decision for vertical expansion: Optimal space utilization
Our client chose to grow upwards. But how was this decision reached? In some cases, it might be more cost-effective to expand horizontally, especially in a more rural area.
However, since the existing ceiling height was not being efficiently utilized, installing a raised storage platform was a viable option. This also eliminated the need for new construction, including the necessary regulatory approvals. Another advantage: By adding a second level, travel distances for employees were shortened, as it eliminated the need to traverse two additional hall sections. All in all, this was the most economical solution.
Our contribution to the laundry's expansion to a second level
Since laundry carts obviously could not be transported to the second floor using stairs, an economical elevator solution was necessary for accessing the new level.
After extensive research, the customer opted for our simplified goods lift. In the following sections, we will take a closer look at the specific features of our facility to demonstrate how it meets the needs of the laundry.
Standard model with custom modifications
Even though the dimensions of the simplified goods lift were tailored to the specific requirements of the customer, it still shares essential features of our standard series:
- Automatic operation: Allows for convenient use of the elevator.
- Two-speed operation: Ensures smooth starting and stopping at the floors.
- Integrated hose burst test: Allows for the functional testing of the installed safety valves.
- Electromechanically secured access doors: Ensure safe operation by preventing accidental opening during movement.
Installation without pit construction
Although only a 120 mm recess would have been sufficient for the column lift to allow for ground-level loading of the platform, the existing hall floor presented a challenge: It offered no possibility for a pit. For this reason, we provided a ramp that allows for easy loading and unloading of the elevator without the need for a recess.
Designed for peak times
The laundry carts are delivered and picked up by our customer's own fleet of trucks. This means that at least twenty laundry carts arrive at the plant at once or need to be made available for departure simultaneously.
Due to the limited space in the truck delivery area, some of the carts must be transported to the second level as quickly as possible upon arrival. To meet this requirement, we have installed a unit with an increased flow rate in our hydraulic lift. This allows the column lift to achieve a speed of 100 mm/s, significantly speeding up the transport process.
