Typically, our loading lift tables are used to bridge height differences between the street and the loading dock of a truck or a warehouse. Therefore, loading lift tables are often found outdoors. However, our customer was looking for a loading solution for indoor use.
Efficient file storage in government offices with our loading lift table
In a government office, files need to be regularly stored in the archive. Since our customer's archive is located in the basement and was only accessible via a staircase, employees previously had to carry the files by hand to the storage area. This was not only physically demanding but also time-consuming.
The affordable and practical solution: our loading lift table. It is now positioned directly next to the staircase and can be loaded with a platform trolley. This way, many files can be transported to the archive simultaneously and conveniently.
Aesthetic design of the loading platform
Since the loading platform is located inside the building, it was important to meet certain aesthetic requirements. One key aspect concerns the control system. By default, we use surface-mounted controls that can be easily mounted on the wall. However, the more aesthetically pleasing option is the flush-mounted installation. In this case, the control box is embedded in the wall and hidden, so that only the control surface remains visible. Below are some images, including a photo of our flush-mounted control system to give you an idea of this design.
Additionally, we have provided edge protection for the pit. This prevents the concrete at the edge of the pit from chipping. The pit edge protection consists of a steel angle frame with anchors. The anchors are necessary to securely fix the pit frame in the concrete.
Safety of our loading lift tables is our top priority
To prevent anyone from falling from the upper stop to the basement when the lift table is lowered, a portal has been installed on one narrow side of the platform. The crossbar of the portal serves as a handrail post. The platform door on the opposite side acts as fall protection during the loading process and is electromechanically secured. It can only be opened when the scissor lift table is fully lowered.
Since the operation is designed as a dead man's control and the operator cannot fully see the danger area under the platform during the lifting and lowering process, a PVC roll-up curtain is located on the narrow side under the platform door. This roll-up curtain prevents unauthorized entry into the danger area.
Another safety feature is the platform made of tear plate. As personnel enter the platform for loading and unloading, the risk of slipping must be minimized. Compared to a platform with a smooth plate, the tear plate provides higher slip resistance.
The stops at the upper stop serve less for safety and more for comfort. They prevent the platform from compressing during load transfer, ensuring no edge is created between the stop and the platform. This allows the loading platform to be easily accessed with a platform trolley without exerting additional force.
