A customer based in Switzerland faced the challenge of needing to efficiently process long, narrow components from all sides. This task required a customized, tailor-made solution.
The goal: Ergonomic working in manufacturing
Initial situation: Our customer manufactures facade elements, stairs, railings, and also balcony extensions, customized according to client requests. Particularly, the pre-assembly of long stair stringers often proved to be laborious. The fixed stands previously used were not adjustable in height, which made ergonomic work difficult. The idea of using a lift table quickly emerged.
The challenge: Standard lift tables available in the desired length were too wide for comfortable work. A flexible height adjustment is of little use if it makes the workpiece difficult to access in terms of width. Therefore, the customer approached us with the following requirements:
- Narrow platform: The platform should be as narrow as possible to facilitate access to the workpieces and enable ergonomic working.
- Securely hold long components: It must be possible to securely hold and work on long components up to 4 meters in length.
- Even lifting: The lift table should lift evenly, even under off-center loads.
The solution: a tandem lift table with a narrow platform
Since the requirements called for a relatively long platform but only a minimal lift height, a tandem lift table was quickly chosen.
By using relatively small, cost-efficient scissor stacks in combination with a long platform, a narrow platform width of just 500 mm was successfully implemented. This narrow design allows easy access to the workpiece from all sides.
But how do you ensure that both scissor stacks lift and lower synchronously, even under uneven loading? This was achieved by implementing a special static flow divider. The flow divider monitors the amount of oil entering each cylinder, ensuring even movement of the platform.
