V-block – a well-rounded solution

Anyone who deals with cylindrical components on a daily basis knows the our customer’s dilemma. How do you protect your employees? How, for example, can you prevent that bars and rods from rolling away?

Our customer came to us with precisely these questions. Coils are used to supply materials in his production facility. Handling the coils should of course be as safe as possible so that there is no danger to the employees.

Platform with recessed V-block

The solution for this application is as simple as it is effective. Instead of a simple smooth surface, a small V-block was recessed into the platform. This was matched specifically to the coils used by the customer to easily and securely keeping the material in position .
As no bolts or similar fasteners are used, another advantage is that the coils is always precisely centred. It is sufficient for the employees to place the material roughly in the right position; gravity takes care of the rest. This increases the process reliability of the subsequent step enormously, as human errors during placement are eliminated and the coil can always be picked up in the correct position.

Where then is the foot protection safety edge?

When you take a look at our scissor lift tables , you will usually notice a few safety features immediately: the bright red maintenance supports and the foot protection safety edge. Of course, this tandem lift table also has maintenance supports, but you will look in vain for the foot protection safety edge.
This is made possible by the very low effective stroke. Only a lifting height of 300 mm is required in the production process, while the overall height of the lift table is already 350 mm. Therefore, it made sense to simply extend the sheet metal aprons on the sides and so save on the safety edge and the corresponding sensors.

How can I do the maintenance?

Access to the pit of the tandem lift table is safely excluded by the sheet metal apron, but how can I carry out maintenance work? To allow access to the pit, we have integrated an overstroke for this purpose, in other words, in normal operation the scissor lift table can only be raised up to 300 mm out of the pit. Activating the maintenance stroke with a key switch increases this stroke to 800 mm. This means that nothing stands in the way of regular maintenance.
