Why Galvanise Scissor Lift Tables?

Galvanising provides additional corrosion protection and is particularly suitable for scissor lift tables that are regularly exposed to moisture or weather conditions. Galvanised configurations are therefore commonly used outdoors and in damp environments.

Hot-dip galvanising can also offer advantages over paintwork for surfaces exposed to high mechanical wear. For example, frequent loading and unloading can damage the paint coating on a platform, exposing the underlying steel. Thanks to the metallurgical bond between the zinc coating and the steel, hot-dip galvanising provides durable corrosion protection, even in the event of minor surface damage.

Which Parts of the Scissor Lift Table Are Galvanised?

Depending on the operating conditions, the entire lift table or only some of its steel components can be galvanised.

For outdoor applications, this often includes the platform, subframe and superstructures. The scissor mechanism, on the other hand, does not necessarily need to be galvanised. Under typical outdoor conditions, a special exterior coating can provide sufficient corrosion protection.

Why Do We Use Hot-Dip Galvanising?

During hot-dip galvanising, the prepared steel components are completely immersed in a bath of molten zinc. This creates a zinc coating that is firmly bonded to the steel.

With electroplating, zinc is applied to the steel surface electrochemically. This generally produces thinner zinc coatings, which can be supplemented with additional passivation or sealing treatments.

As hot-dip galvanising produces comparatively thick zinc coatings and therefore provides long-lasting corrosion protection, we use this process for our lift tables.

What Else Needs to Be Considered for a Galvanised Lift Table Used Outdoors?

Galvanising protects the respective steel components against corrosion. However, other components and environmental conditions must also be taken into account to ensure reliable outdoor operation.

These include protecting electrical components against moisture and UV radiation, suitable positioning of the control system and hydraulic power unit, and selecting appropriate operating fluids.
