The Texoversum in Reutlingen is a place where textile culture and technology come together. It is home not only to knowledge about fabrics, fibres and their processing, but also to the machinery required for this work. Transporting these machines safely within the multi-storey building places particular demands on internal logistics.
The Challenge: Transporting Heavy Textile Machinery Across Multiple Levels
The Texoversum extends across three levels: basement, ground floor and upper floor. Heavy and large textile processing machines need to be transported safely and reliably between these levels.
The building geometry presents a particular challenge: while the basement and upper floor are accessible from the same side, access to the ground floor is located on the opposite side. With a total lifting height of 4,460 mm, a transport solution was therefore required that could be adapted to these structural conditions.
The Solution: Generously Sized Goods Lift
For transporting the textile machinery, Janzen Lifttechnik designed and installed a hydraulic goods lift with three stops. With a platform measuring 4,570 × 3,070 mm and a load capacity of 2,700 kg, the lift provides ample space for the Texoversum’s heavy and large machinery.
The different access sides at the three stops were taken into account in the design. At the same time, there was no need for a separate plant room, as the hydraulic power unit is integrated directly into the lift system.
The installation conditions were also considered during the design process. Due to its size, the platform was constructed in sections, making it easier to bring into the building and assemble on site.
Safe Machinery Transport at the Touch of a Button
The landing doors are equipped with safety interlocks and can only be opened when the platform is positioned precisely at the respective stop and securely locked in place. The hydraulic locking bolts prevent the platform from lowering unintentionally during loading and unloading.
Operation is simple and convenient at the touch of a button: once the desired floor has been selected, the platform automatically travels to the corresponding stop. This allows the heavy textile machinery to be transported safely and easily between the three levels.
The Result: Safe Machinery Transport at the Texoversum
Since commissioning in mid-2023, the Texoversum has had a permanent solution for the safe and convenient transport of machinery between its three levels. The goods lift is precisely adapted to the building’s unique geometry.
The project demonstrates how custom solutions for transporting heavy and large goods can be implemented even under challenging structural conditions.
