What Is a Column Lift?
A column lift is a lifting platform used to transport goods vertically between different levels. The platform is guided vertically along a column structure positioned at the side.
Our column lifts are hydraulically driven. As the lifting mechanism is located at the side of the platform, the platform dimensions and lifting height can be configured largely independently of each other. This allows the platform to be flexibly adapted to the specific transport requirements and installation conditions.
How Does a Column Lift Differ from a Scissor Lift Table?
With a scissor lift table, the scissor mechanism is located beneath the platform. The scissor mechanism required for the desired lifting height therefore also affects the possible platform dimensions. If greater lifting heights are required with comparatively small platform dimensions, multiple scissor mechanisms can be used. One example is our double scissor lift table.
With a column lift, by contrast, the lifting mechanism is located at the side of the platform. This means that the platform dimensions are not influenced by a lifting mechanism beneath the platform and can therefore be configured more flexibly. Which design is better suited to a particular project depends on factors such as the required lifting height, platform size and structural conditions.

Can a Column Lift Be Installed Without a Pit?
Depending on the installation conditions, our column lifts can be installed either with or without a pit. With pit installation, the platform can sit flush with the surrounding floor in its lowest position, eliminating any incline when loading and unloading.
If a pit is not structurally feasible, a pit-free configuration can be used depending on the conditions at the installation site. In this case, the height difference to the platform is overcome using an access ramp solution. We offer access ramps individually designed for the column lift with a shallow incline, for example for electric stackers, as well as shorter ramp wedges for installations where space is limited.
What Equipment Options Are Available for a Column Lift?
Our column lifts can be adapted to the specific installation conditions and intended use with a range of equipment options.
If no shaft is provided by the client, for example, shaft enclosures made of sandwich panels or safety barriers at the stops can be installed. Different control options are also available – from hold-to-run controls to automatic operation.
We will determine the most suitable equipment for your project based on the installation conditions and your specific requirements.
Will I Receive an Approval Drawing Before Production?
Yes. Once the technical details have been finalised, you will receive an approval drawing for your column lift before production begins. It shows the key dimensions and technical features of the system, as well as the intended installation conditions.
This allows you to review the planned configuration and relevant interfaces before production.

Frequently Asked Questions About Column Lifts
What load capacities are possible for column lifts?
The possible load capacity depends on the specific configuration and project requirements. Typical load capacities range from 500 to 3,000 kg. Depending on the project, column lifts with load capacities of up to 10,000 kg can also be designed. We will determine which technical specifications are possible for your project as part of the technical design process.
How fast does a column lift travel?
The travel speed is adapted to the specific lift system. Our column lifts are designed for a maximum travel speed of 0.15 m/s (150 mm/s). Lifting equipment with a travel speed of no more than 0.15 m/s falls outside the scope of the Lifts Directive 2014/33/EU.
Can a column lift be retrofitted?
Yes. In many cases, a column lift can be retrofitted into an existing building. The most suitable configuration depends primarily on the available space, the structural conditions at the installation site and the required arrangement of the stops. These installation conditions are taken into account during the technical planning of the column lift.
How quickly will I receive a quotation?
Once we have received the required technical information, you will generally receive a quotation tailored to your requirements within 2 to 3 working days.
Can I obtain a CAD model of the column lift?
Yes. Once the order has been placed and the design phase completed, we can provide you with CAD data for the column lift. Common formats include STEP, DXF and DWG.
What is the delivery time for a column lift?
The delivery time depends on the individual configuration and our current production capacity. We will provide you with the expected delivery date as part of the quotation or order process.
Which countries do we deliver column lifts to?
We deliver column lifts throughout the European Union and to Switzerland. Deliveries to other countries are assessed on a project-specific basis upon request.
Where do we offer installation of column lifts?
Our installation service is available throughout Germany and in neighbouring countries. Whether installation is possible at a particular location will be determined during the project planning process.
How long is the warranty on my column lift?
Our column lifts come with a standard 24-month warranty when used within the EU. With a suitable maintenance contract, this can be extended to up to 60 months.
