Reference 066 – Goods lift for goods transport outdoors

The depicted goods lift, a double scissor lift table, is specifically designed to safely transport pallets between two floors. It is located outdoors in front of a ramp that is closed at the bottom.

Well-equipped for outdoor use

Hot galvanising

For lift tables used outdoors, protection against weather conditions is essential. Galvanizing the steel components provides effective corrosion protection. Often, it is sufficient to galvanize only the platform and the underframe. The scissor mechanism is usually finished with an external paint coating, as it does not come into permanent contact with moisture unlike the other steel elements.
For the external paint finish, the scissor mechanism is blasted, primed, the joints are sealed, and then painted. This way, the scissors are adequately protected.

Chequer plate

Chequer plate on the loading area increases slip resistance in wet and greasy environments. The risk of slipping when wet is significantly reduced when stepping onto the scissor lift table due to the chequer plate on the platform.

Water drainage

When installing the lift table in a pit, adequate water drainage is essential to prevent accumulations of rainwater. It is important to regularly check and clean the drainage for contaminants such as leaves or dirt to prevent clogs.

Safety features on the goods lift

Under-run protection

Since the goods lift is not fully visible to the operator when controlled from the upper station, under-run protection must be provided. To ensure safety, the lift table has been equipped with a PVC roll-up curtain. The PVC curtain prevents people from being in the hazard area beneath the platform during lifting or lowering. Alternatively, a wire mesh can be used, which not only offers less wind resistance but is also transparent.

Portal

The high building ramp poses a potential hazard when the scissor lift platform is lowered. To enhance safety, the platform of the goods lift is equipped with a galvanized portal. This portal acts as a sturdy railing when the lift table is not extended, providing effective fall protection.
Loading and unloading at the upper station is still easily possible despite the portal, due to the sufficient clearance height available.

Railing door

From a lifting height of 500 mm, fall protection is required on the lift table platform. Since the other sides are protected by walls, a railing door was only necessary on one narrow side. The door is equipped with an electromechanical locking system that ensures the door can only be opened in the lowest lift position

Key switch

To protect the hydraulic lift from unauthorized access, the control unit is equipped with a key switch. This ensures that only a select group of individuals can operate the lifting device.
