Goods Lift Provides Access to Basement Areas

Our customer specialises in the development and manufacture of explosion-protected tablets and smartphones for use in ATEX areas. The aim was to make better use of the existing basement space for storing the finished devices.

To integrate the basement space into its warehouse logistics, the manufacturer needed a reliable transport solution between the basement and ground floor. Euro pallets loaded with finished tablets and smartphones needed to be moved easily and safely between the two levels. Flexible loading and unloading options were also required on the ground floor.

For transporting goods between the basement and ground floor, Janzen Lifttechnik installed a simplified goods lift based on a scissor lift table. With a platform measuring 1,750 × 2,200 mm and a load capacity of 1,000 kg, the lift provides sufficient space for transporting loaded Euro pallets. The lifting height is 2,690 mm.

A special feature of the lift is its three access points across two stops. While the platform is accessible from one side in the basement, the ground floor has two landing doors, one on the long side and one on the short side. This allows pallets to be loaded and unloaded from different directions as required.

The customer constructed the lift shaft based on our detailed design drawings. We handled the delivery, installation and commissioning of the goods lift.

For safe operation, the goods lift is equipped with a pressure-based load monitoring system that detects platform overloads. Electrically operated shut-off valves on the hydraulic cylinders prevent uncontrolled lowering in the event of a hydraulic line failure. Electromechanical safety interlocks on the landing doors ensure that the platform can only move when the doors are closed and locked.

Operation is convenient at the touch of a button. Controls at both stops allow the platform to travel automatically between the basement and ground floor. This ensures easy and reliable transport of palletised goods.

The goods lift allows the basement to be better integrated into the company's internal warehouse logistics. Euro pallets loaded with finished tablets and smartphones can be transported reliably between the basement and ground floor, while the different access points allow for flexible loading and unloading.
