Our robust scissor lift table is specifically designed for demanding use in a three-shift operation. In this article, we explain how we have prepared the lift table to handle up to 60 lifts per hour.
Designed for highest loads
For a lift table, it makes a huge difference whether it is operated only once or twice an hour or if it is in constant motion.
The number of double lifts per hour affects everything: from the choice of the power unit to the mechanical structure.
In this section, we explain how we have designed our lift table for constant high loads to ensure reliable operation.
The hydraulic unit
In many applications, lift tables are only moved sporadically. Therefore, the use of submersible power units is suitable. Compared to compact units, these have a more pleasant noise level and can often be installed space-savingly within the scissor lift platform. However, the disadvantage is the low duty cycle. Since the electric motor is directly in the oil, the oil heats up with increasing operating duration. To counteract this effect, either the amount of oil must be increased or an additional cooler installed when there is a high cycle rate.
Since our customer wanted an external installation of the unit, the larger dimensions of a compact unit were not an issue. Therefore, we opted for a compact unit where the electric motor is cooled by the surrounding air. This allows for a duty cycle of up to 100%
Mechanical design
All our lift tables, goods lifts and column lifts feature particularly robust mechanics. In our view, making savings in this area leads to significant quality losses, which we, as a renowned lift table manufacturer, want to avoid at all costs. Therefore, each of our products is manufactured with the highest quality standards—compromised designs are out of the question for us.
When a lift table is used continuously, it requires additional modifications to ensure longevity and functionality:
- Replacable guide rails
For heavily used lift tables, which handle up to 1,500 lifts daily, the running surfaces of the loose bearing rollers are subject to significant wear. To facilitate quick replacement, our running surfaces are designed to be screwable. This allows for the rapid recommissioning of the lift table. - Surface-hardened loose bearing rollers
Our loose bearing rollers are made from wear-resistant steel and additionally surface-hardened to maximize resistance to wear. - Greasable bearings
All bearing points on our lift tables are designed to be greaseable. This allows for regular relubrication, significantly extending the life of the bearings and thus the entire lift table.
Operation without foot protection safety strips
Upon closer examination of our lift table, it is noticeable that it is not equipped with the usual foot protection safety strip. The omission of such a safety strip is only permissible under certain conditions:
- The lift table is manually operated.
- The lift table is secured by the installation situation.
In this case, the second condition is met. The lift table is an integral part of an automated production line and is fully integrated into the control and safety system of the overarching facility. If an employee enters the hazard area, the entire system is automatically shut down, thereby preventing any risk of crushing.
