Accessories for Dock Lift Tables
With suitable accessories, the dock lift table can be adapted to different requirements. Explore the key equipment options at a glance.
Table of Contents
A dock lift table is a lifting platform used to raise and lower loads between different height levels at loading areas. It enables goods to be moved safely and ergonomically between different loading levels.
Typical applications include loading and unloading trucks and vans, as well as bridging differences in height between yard, ground and loading dock levels.
Dock lift tables are subject to legal requirements and technical standards. In Germany, the following regulations and standards are particularly relevant:
- Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC: It sets out the essential health and safety requirements for machinery. From 20 January 2027, it will be replaced by the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.
- DIN EN 1570-1: This standard specifies safety requirements for lifting tables and covers, among other things, requirements for design, protective devices and control systems.
For workplace use in Germany, the requirements of the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung – BetrSichV) must also be taken into account. The specific requirements depend, among other things, on the design, installation conditions and intended use of the loading lift table.
For further information, see our article: Important Directives and Standards for Scissor Lift Tables: An Overview.
Our dock lift tables are designed for reliable use in logistics and industrial applications. Robust construction, weather-resistant designs and practical safety features make them suitable even for demanding operating conditions.
- Robust construction: Solid steel sections and generously dimensioned cross members provide stability – even with uneven load distribution.
- Suitable for outdoor use: Dock lift tables for outdoor use are equipped with a hot-dip galvanised platform and galvanised base frame. The galvanised finish provides protection against corrosion. Electrical components with an IP65 rating are protected against dust and water jets.
- Slip-resistant platform: The chequer plate surface provides secure footing when loading, unloading and walking on the platform.
- Drive-over design available: When installed in a pit, the platform sits flush with the surrounding floor when fully lowered. With suitable platform reinforcement, it can also be designed to allow vehicles to drive over it.
- Easy operation: The control system is designed for clear and practical operation of the dock lift table.
On request, we can also provide professional on-site installation of the dock lift table.
Our dock lift tables are equipped with various safety features to protect people and goods. Depending on the installation conditions and intended use, additional safety equipment can be provided.
Standard Equipment
The following safety features are included as standard on our dock lift tables:
- Dead man's control: The lifting or lowering movement only continues while the corresponding control button is pressed.
- Emergency stop: Stops the movement in the event of a hazardous situation.
- Electrical shut-off valves on the cylinders: Protect against uncontrolled lowering of the platform.
- Limit switches: Limit the specified lifting and lowering positions of the dock lift table.
- Safety edges: Stop the lowering movement if the safety edge around the platform encounters an obstacle.
- Maintenance supports: Secure the raised platform during maintenance and repair work.
Optional Safety Equipment
Depending on the installation conditions and intended use, the dock lift table can be equipped with additional safety features:
- Guardrails, doors and gates: Protect open platform sides and access points against falls.
- Audible and visual warning signals: Indicate when the dock lift table is in motion.
- Underrun protection: Prevents unintended access to the area beneath the platform.
The cost of a dock lift table depends on its configuration. Key factors include:
- Load capacity and platform size
- Lifting height
- Equipment and safety features
- Type of installation, e.g. with or without a pit
- Indoor or outdoor use
In addition to the initial purchase price, ongoing costs mainly include:
- Energy consumption
- Maintenance and servicing
As our dock lift tables are individually designed and equipped, costs vary depending on the configuration. You can find a specific price range based on a lift table with typical equipment in our article How Much Does a Lift Table Cost?.
The installation of a dock lift table depends on the specific configuration and the conditions at the installation site.
Installation by our team is generally completed within 1 to 2 working days, provided that all necessary preparations by the client have been completed.
What Preparations Are Required for Pit Installation?
With pit installation, the platform sits flush with the surrounding surface when fully lowered. Before installation, certain preparatory work must be carried out by the client, in particular:
- Construction of the pit according to our specifications
- Installation of the required conduits for electrical and hydraulic connections
For the preparatory work, we provide a project-specific pit plan. This includes:
- Pit dimensions
- Position and dimensions of the conduits
- Information on project-specific requirements, e.g. drainage
Installation and Commissioning
On request, our installation team can install the dock lift table on site. This includes:
- Installation of the dock lift table
- Connection and commissioning
- Functional testing
- Instruction on operation
How often a dock lift table needs to be maintained depends on factors such as the frequency of use, environmental conditions and the specific configuration. The maintenance requirements specified in the operating instructions must be followed.
Recommended Maintenance Intervals
Unless otherwise specified in the operating instructions, the following maintenance and inspection intervals apply to our dock lift tables:
| Interval | Action |
|---|---|
| Daily | Visual inspection for damage, leaks and other abnormalities |
| Monthly | Check hydraulic, mechanical and electrical components for correct function and wear |
| Annually | Comprehensive maintenance and functional inspection, including replacement of wear parts where necessary |
Detailed maintenance information can be found in the supplied operating instructions or in our article Maintenance Work on Scissor Lift Tables.
Why Is Regular Maintenance Important?
Regular maintenance helps ensure the safe and reliable operation of the dock lift table over the long term:
- Safety: Wear, damage and leaks can be detected at an early stage.
- Availability: Identifying defects early can help reduce unplanned downtime.
- Service life: Regular maintenance helps extend the service life of the system.
Important: Maintenance and the inspections required under the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung) are separate requirements. The employer determines which inspections are required and how frequently they must be carried out as part of the risk assessment. Any required recurring inspections must be carried out by a person qualified to perform inspections.
1. Applications & Use
Are our dock lift tables suitable for outdoor use?
