Choosing the right lift table can be overwhelming, as most manufacturers offer a wide variety of models. However, in about 90 percent of all applications, the choice is limited to six types of lift tables. This article guides you through these most common variants and helps you find the ideal type for your specific needs.

The classic scissor lift table: Versatility meets power

The basic configuration of a scissor lift table consists of a base frame, scissor mechanism and platform. It allows for the safe lifting and lowering of loads, with different models offering load capacities ranging from 500 kg to an impressive 40,000 kg. Some special constructions even provide a payload capacity of nearly 100 tons.

The standard configuration of a hydraulic lift table can be enhanced with a wide range of accessories. These include turntables, tilting devices and roller conveyors, which are offered by nearly all lift table manufacturers. For specific applications, manufacturers specializing in custom constructions enable tailored adaptations of the load-handling devices, transforming the lift table into specific variants such as work lift tables, mobile lift tables or loading lift tables.

The robust yet simple construction of the classic scissor lift table makes it the ideal foundation for further types of lift tables used in various industrial and commercial applications.

The low-profile lift table: Optimal for low installation heights

The low-profile lift table, also known as the flat-form lift table, is the preferred choice when a particularly low installation height is required. This type of lift table is characterized by its flat construction, often allowing installation without the need for a pit in the floor. This makes it ideal for retrofitting in existing buildings.

The platform of the low-profile lift table is usually designed in a U or E shape, enabling loading without an additional ramp.

In recent years, the low-profile lift table has become particularly popular as a pallet loading station. In this application, integrated roller conveyors on the platform facilitate the transfer of loads.

The elevating work platform: Efficiency and safety at height

Elevating work platforms enable the safe and efficient execution of tasks such as repairs, installations and inspections at greater heights. They can be controlled directly from the platform, making work faster by eliminating the need for time-consuming climbing up and down.

Another significant advantage of elevating work platforms is the ability to carry tools and materials directly on the platform. This maximizes productivity and allows workers to have all necessary resources immediately at hand, which is particularly beneficial in demanding work environments.

Car lifts and elevators: An overview of types and applications

Car lifts, specifically designed for lifting vehicles, encompass various types of lift tables that, while similar in function, can differ significantly in design and application.

In auto repair shops, the most common form of car lift is the column lift, primarily used for inspection, assembly and repair work on vehicles. Scissor lift tables are less commonly found in these settings.

Car dealerships use specially designed car lifts to present vehicles effectively and attract potential buyers. An example of this is the lift table with a rotating platform.

Car elevators, on the other hand, are used to safely transport vehicles between different floors of a building, which is particularly useful in multi-story parking areas.

A notable example of a car lift is the underground lift, which serves as a retractable garage. The underground lift allows vehicles to be parked safely below ground level. This solution optimally utilizes available space and offers enhanced theft protection.

The column lift: Flexibility in platform design and lift height

In a column lift, the lifting motion is achieved using a mast. A significant advantage of this design over scissor lift tables is the flexibility in the design of platform dimensions and lift height, which can be adjusted independently of each other.

Moreover, the column lift offers the possibility to design the platform geometry almost freely. For instance, a U- or E-shaped platform, similar to a low-profile lift table, can be envisioned, allowing loading with hand pallet trucks without the need for a pit or ramp.

The goods lift: Efficient load movement across multiple levels

Goods lifts are essential tools for transporting heavy loads between different floors. Often, column lifts serve as the basis for the lifting mechanism, as they enable large lift heights to be easily achieved.

According to elevator regulations, however, goods lifts must include additional safety features that exceed the requirements for ordinary column lifts. These include, among other things, enclosures and comprehensive safety equipment.

In addition to classic goods lifts, we also offer underground lifts. These are particularly suitable for applications where loads need to be discreetly and safely lowered underground to save space and maintain aesthetics.
